Oh, London

Day One: My flat iron melted into pieces even with the converter I bought. After the straightener mishap, I made my way to Buckingham Palace, and some English guys basically told me that some b*tch lives there. Brick Lane and Shoreditch reminded me most of home in Williamsburg. Shoreditch is where Banksy's work was first recognized and thou I didn't see any of his graffiti, there were plenty of imposters like this one everywhere. Anyone who knows me knows that music has a huge presence in my life, so I had to make my way to Abbey Road Studios. It was amazing to know that some of the greatest artists have recorded in this very house that was converted into a music studio. The ones that hit a mark with me are of course The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Oasis. The graffiti all over Abbey Road Studios was primarily of the Beatles, most likely because of their famous cover for the Abbey Road album. It was taken on this street, and here I am walking across the road... ...Hmmmm, somehow not the same. Ha! I headed over to Tower Bridge, which according to one of the Beefeaters at Tower of London, most people mistake for London Bridge. While at Tower of London I saw the Crown Jewels and lots of torture chambers, and the ax that killed Anna Bullen, or Anne Boleyn, incidentally the Other Boleyn Girl is now playing. After Camden Market I hit up Primrose Hill. You can see all of London from atop this beautiful hill in North London. I really wasn't going to go to Big Ben. SERIOUSLY. I thought, why would I wanna see a clock? However, I was at the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square and there it was, so I went to Parliament and took a pic. Tate Modern had Doris Salcedo's Shibboleth or as everyone calls it, the crack. Portobello Market was one of the many cute markets I visited, so why take a pic of the neighborhood you ask? Well because it's in Notting Hill one of many beautiful and posh neighborhoods in London. London's version of Time Square, Picadilly Circus. I met up with two fellow New Yorkers who happened to be in London and we started out at the Abbey... New Yorker, friend, and boss, Robert. It's funny because I didn't really meet anyone who was English. Let see there was two Spaniards, another Yankee, a guy from Yugoslavia, and a Frenchie. Gigi and I at Dave's apartment in Westminster. I wanna work for AIG and have them put me up in a sweet flat. The other New Yorker Dave who has no problem letting you know that he's really smart, Jewish, and from New York. Ha ha, seriously, I'm sure I wasn't the only one he told this to that night. No, but he made sure everyone had a good time, thanks Dave. :)
